H.R. No. 1156 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Luis Lopez retired as owner and operator of Center Automatic Transmission and Engine Exchange, drawing to a close 50 years of outstanding service to residents of Corpus Christi; and WHEREAS, A native of Michoacán, Mexico, Mr. Lopez came to the United States in the early 1960s; he diligently saved up over the ensuing years, and in 1965 he purchased Center Automatic Transmission and Engine Exchange for $10,000; and WHEREAS, This esteemed entrepreneur gained a loyal customer base during his five decades running the garage, where he offered his customers ready-to-install transmissions and a wide range of other car repair services; Mr. Lopez devoted countless hours to keeping his shop running smoothly, overcoming many professional and personal obstacles as he continued to work until the age of 83; and WHEREAS, In retirement, Mr. Lopez looks forward to spending more time with his wife and three daughters and to pursuing his favorite pastime, hunting; and WHEREAS, Luis Lopez's skill and determination have made him an American success story, and he may indeed take great pride in his outstanding achievements as he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Luis Lopez on his retirement as owner of Center Automatic Transmission and Engine Exchange in Corpus Christi and extend to him sincere best wishes for happiness and success in the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Lopez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
