No. 1201 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Miranda Torres was recently accepted into the National Society of High School Scholars, and this offers a fitting opportunity to recognize her fine academic accomplishments; and WHEREAS, A junior at Rapoport Academy's Meyer High School, Ms. Torres is fourth in her class, and she serves as captain of the Raven Dance Team, cosecretary of the Waco Youth Council, and secretary of the National Honor Society; she was previously a student at Lake Waco Montessori Magnet School, where she was part of the gifted and talented program; and WHEREAS, Ms. Torres is the daughter of proud parents Norma and Javier Torres; her other educational endeavors include attending the University for Young People summer camp at Baylor University, the Global Citizens Action Project in New York City, and the Rotary Youth Leadership Award summer camp; and WHEREAS, Through hard work and a commitment to excellence, Miranda Torres has demonstrated great ability as she works toward her scholastic goals, and she may indeed look forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Miranda Torres on her academic achievements and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Torres as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
