 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Cypress Ranch High School football team enjoyed
 an exceptional 2014 season, advancing all the way to the University
 Interscholastic League 6A Division 1 state championship game on
 December 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington; and
 WHEREAS, After dropping two contests early in the year, the
 Mustangs rebounded with seven consecutive victories to close out
 the regular season, claiming the district title and punching their
 ticket to the state playoffs; and
 WHEREAS, Continuing its commanding play in the postseason,
 Cypress Ranch dominated the team from Aldine High School by a score
 of 52-0, before tallying a comfortable victory over Cinco Ranch in
 the area round of play; the Mustangs then edged out North Shore and
 Dickinson High Schools in the ensuing rounds to clinch a spot in the
 state semifinals; there, the team proved its mettle once again in a
 matchup with Judson High School, pulling away for a 38-31 triumph
 and securing the school's first trip to the state championship
 game; and
 WHEREAS, The Mustangs turned in a valiant effort versus the
 defending state champions from Allen High School in the 6A Division
 1 finale but were ultimately defeated, concluding the season with a
 stellar record of 13 wins to only 3 losses; and
 WHEREAS, The success enjoyed by the Mustangs throughout the
 year was the result of a true team effort, with significant
 contributions being made by each member of the roster; these
 talented student-athletes were guided by head coach Gene Johnson,
 who inspired them to reach their full potential as championship
 contenders; and
 WHEREAS, Through perseverance, hard work, and an enduring
 commitment to play at the top of their game, the members of the 2014
 Mustangs football team earned the admiration of their fellow
 students and their many community supporters, and they may indeed
 reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Cypress Ranch High School
 football team on its outstanding 2014 season and extend to the
 team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for
 continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
