| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Food Bank of Corpus Christi has provided a |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1982, the Food Bank of Corpus Christi |

| 8 | 9 | | works to reduce hunger in the Coastal Bend region by providing meals |

| 9 | 10 | | to those in need and offering education on healthy eating |

| 10 | 11 | | practices; it serves as a clearinghouse for donated and collected |

| 11 | 12 | | food, which it distributes through a network of 150 partner |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | agencies and pantries to approximately 7,800 people in 11 South |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Texas counties each week; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, This nonprofit organization, which is affiliated |

| 15 | 16 | | with Feeding America, further serves Corpus Christi and the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | surrounding area with a variety of useful programs, including Kids' |

| 17 | 18 | | Café, the Mobile Pantry, Kids' Backpack, and the award-winning |

| 18 | 19 | | Diabetes Hands On Program and Nutrition Education Mobile Pantry; |

| 19 | 20 | | along with the Health and Human Services Commission and the Texas |

| 20 | 21 | | Food Bank Network, the food bank also operates an outreach program |

| 21 | 22 | | designed to help qualified applicants complete the paperwork for |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Volunteers are the driving force behind the Food |

| 24 | 25 | | Bank of Corpus Christi; ably led by executive director Beatriz |

| 25 | 26 | | Hanson and 40 staff members, civic-minded citizens contribute over |

| 26 | 27 | | 3,000 hours each month by sorting goods, working in the community |

| 27 | 28 | | garden, assisting with administrative functions, and more; and |

| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, With the worthy goal of alleviating hunger, the Food |

| 29 | 30 | | Bank of Corpus Christi makes immeasurable contributions to the |

| 30 | 31 | | people of the Coastal Bend, and it indeed merits special |

| 31 | 32 | | recognition for its service; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby honor the Food Bank of Corpus Christi and extend |
