H.R. No. 1248
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Tandy Boyd, an English teacher at Buna High School,
received the Golden Apple Educator Award from the Education First
Federal Credit Union in February 2015, and this achievement indeed
merits special recognition; and
WHEREAS, EFFCU, in partnership with local news station KFDM,
chose Mrs. Boyd as the first educator to receive the monthly Golden
Apple Educator Award in recognition of her commitment to excellence
in teaching and her dedication to student success; in addition to
the award, she was given a $500 check and was featured on the KFDM
Channel 6 Morning Show; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Boyd has been with the Buna Independent School
District for more than 22 years, and she currently teaches English
IV, AP English, and an SAT tutorial class at BHS; the energy and
encouragement she brings to the classroom serve to inspire students
as they work toward their goals; and
WHEREAS, Tandy Boyd exemplifies the qualities that are the
hallmarks of a great teacher, and she has earned the respect and
admiration of her colleagues and students alike; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Tandy Boyd on receiving the Golden
Apple Educator Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for the
future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Boyd as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
