5	6		WHEREAS, Although the passing of Dr. Albert Lee Guinn Jr. has
6	7		brought great sorrow to those who loved him, memories of a life
7	8		filled with joyful times and meaningful accomplishments remain to
8	9		comfort his family and friends; and
9	10		WHEREAS, Born to Albert Lee Guinn Sr. and Eleanor Bohannon in
10	11		Port Arthur on December 24, 1951, Albert Lee Guinn Jr. grew up in
11	12		the Panama Canal Zone, where his father was a ship's pilot, as well
12	13		as in Port Lavaca; after high school, he attended The University of
13	14		Texas at Austin to study science, ultimately skipping an
14	15		undergraduate degree to become the youngest student in his medical
15	16		school class at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio; and
16	17		WHEREAS, Dr. Guinn graduated following an externship in the
17	18		pediatric ward at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin and went on to
18	19		complete an internal medicine residency at the Ochsner Clinic in
19	20		New Orleans; an exceptional physician, he treated his patients with
20	21		compassion and empathy while using his wealth of knowledge to give
21	22		them the best possible care; his medical career continued to
22	23		flourish after he and his wife, Jane, opened the Longevity and
23	24		Wellness Center of South Texas, with branches in Rockport and
24	25		Corpus Christi; and
25	26		WHEREAS, An active and accomplished individual, Dr. Guinn
26	27		had several passions outside of medicine, and he pursued them with
27	28		his characteristic zest for life; his interest in exercise and
28	29		fitness led him to participate in numerous marathons and serve as an
29	30		aerobics instructor for over 20 years at the YMCA; he loved sailing,
30	31		as well, and spent the last year of his life on his boat, sailing
31	32		from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, through New York Bay and 20 miles up
32	33		the Hudson River, with an extended stay in Charleston, South
33	34		Carolina; he was also a skilled painter and sang in the choir at
34	35		St. Peter's by the Sea Episcopal Church in Rockport; and
35	36		WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Dr. Guinn enjoyed the
36	37		support of a loving family that included his wife, Jane, his two
37	38		sons, Trey and Colin, his two daughters, Audrey and Kathryn, and his
38	39		four grandchildren; and
39	40		WHEREAS, Renowned for his boundless enthusiasm, his effusive
40	41		smile, and his generosity of spirit, Dr. Lee Guinn made a positive
41	42		difference in the lives of many people, and all those who were
42	43		privileged to share in his friendship and affection will forever
43	44		hold him close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
44	45		RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
45	46		Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dr. Albert Lee Guinn
46	47		Jr. and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
47	48		wife, Jane; to his sons, Trey and Colin; to his daughters, Audrey
48	49		and Kathryn; to his grandchildren, Achilles, Montana, Jade, and
49	50		Cruz; to his sister, Gale, and her husband, Bill; to his brother,
50	51		Greg; to his brother-in-law, Jim, and his wife, Jill; and to his
51	52		other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
52	53		RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
53	54		prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
54	55		Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Albert
55	56		Lee Guinn Jr.
