| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Tristan Salinas of La Feria won the 27th annual Rio |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, More than 50 students from area elementary and |

| 9 | 10 | | middle schools competed in the spelling bee, and Tristan bested |

| 10 | 11 | | each of his opponents through 13 rounds, ultimately claiming first |

| 11 | 12 | | place by correctly spelling the word "illegible"; with his |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | impressive victory, he earned a championship trophy as well as the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | right to represent the Rio Grande Valley at the 88th Annual Scripps |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., in May; and |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Currently a seventh-grader at W. B. Green Junior |

| 16 | 17 | | High School, Tristan advanced to the first round of the regional |

| 17 | 18 | | competition in 2014; he prepared for this year's event by studying |

| 18 | 19 | | more than 1,000 flash cards, dedicating much of his free time to the |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Tristan Salinas has demonstrated exceptional |
