H.R. No. 1413 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Residents of El Paso County benefit each day from the contributions of those public servants who greatly improve the quality of life in their communities through the fulfillment of their duties; and WHEREAS, Carlos Leon was elected to serve as El Paso County commissioner for Precinct No. 1 in 2012, and he has worked diligently to build trust and transparency within county government in his first term in office; he has remained an effective advocate for his constituents while working together with the other members of the commissioners court to achieve positive results for the region; and WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of El Paso, Commissioner Leon enjoyed a successful 30-year career in law enforcement with the El Paso Police Department, where he served as chief of police from 1999 until his retirement in 2003; this esteemed Texan has been recognized for his dedicated efforts with the Honored Ex award from Ysleta High School as well as the prestigious Conquistador Award from the El Paso City Council; and WHEREAS, Carlos Leon has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to making El Paso County an even better place in which to live and work, and in so doing, he has earned the deep respect and appreciation of his fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby honor El Paso County Commissioner Carlos Leon for his efforts in behalf of his community and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Commissioner Leon as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
