 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
 passing of Robert Ray Lawson of Marshall on February 17, 2015, at
 the age of 90; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Ovilla on July 30, 1924, to William and Bunk
 Lawson, Robert Lawson grew up on a farm with his seven siblings
 during the Great Depression; he graduated from Midlothian High
 School in 1941 and was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War
 II, serving as a member of the Army Medical Corps in the Pacific
 theater; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Lawson returned to the United States and met the
 love of his life, Mona, and they were joined in matrimony in 1947;
 the couple enjoyed more than 60 years of marriage, and together they
 became the proud and devoted parents of their son, David; and
 WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan cofounded the Mar-Tex Glass
 Company in 1952, and he played an instrumental role in the firm's
 success over more than four decades of operation; and
 WHEREAS, An active member of First United Methodist Church,
 Mr. Lawson also shared his time and talents with numerous other
 organizations in his community, including the Marshall Optimist
 Club, the Marshall Rotary Club, and the Marshall Chamber of
 Commerce; he was a chair of the Marshall Independent School
 District School Board for many years and a board member of the
 Region VII Education Service Center, Peoples State Bank, and the
 Harrison Central Appraisal District; in recognition of his
 exceptional work, he was named Outstanding Citizen of Marshall in
 2004, and he was the recipient of an honorary lifetime membership
 from the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers; and
 WHEREAS, Although Robert Lawson is deeply missed, he leaves
 behind a record of service to his family and fellow citizens that
 will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert Ray Lawson and
 extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
 wife, Mona Lawson; to his son, David Lawson and his wife, Tatiana;
 and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Robert Ray
 Lawson.
