 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The National Association of Town Watch sponsors a
 well-known nationwide program entitled National Night Out Against
 Crime; and
 WHEREAS, This notable annual event provides an opportunity
 for Texans to join forces with individuals in thousands of other
 towns and cities across the country to promote cooperative crime
 prevention efforts; and
 WHEREAS, Commemorated through neighborhood gatherings,
 cookouts, parades, flashlight walks, and other activities,
 National Night Out helps to build community cohesiveness,
 strengthen relations between residents and local police, and
 increase awareness of anticrime strategies, while sending a message
 of solidarity to would-be criminals; and
 WHEREAS, The importance of reducing crime, drug use, and
 violence cannot be overstated, and by taking part in National Night
 Out observances, Texans affirm their commitment to making their
 communities stronger and safer; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby recognize the 2016 National Night Out Against
 Crime as an essential crime prevention event and commend all those
 involved in this vital endeavor.
