| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Senior Officer Juan Rincon Prieto of the Corpus |

| 7 | 8 | | February 2, 1993, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, An officer with 27 years of experience in the Corpus |

| 10 | 11 | | Christi Police Department, Officer Prieto was directing traffic at |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Up River and Suntide Roads when he was struck and killed by a pickup |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | truck; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Officer Prieto was |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | survived by a wife, two sons, and two daughters; the legacy of this |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | dedicated public servant was honored in the community he so ably |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | served with a park that was named in his memory; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the |

| 18 | 19 | | courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Officer Prieto, who willingly place themselves in harm's way each |

| 20 | 21 | | day to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow citizens; |

| 22 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
