H.R. No. 1663
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Senior Officer Juan Rincon Prieto of the Corpus
Christi Police Department lost his life in the line of duty on
February 2, 1993, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be
forgotten; and
WHEREAS, An officer with 27 years of experience in the Corpus
Christi Police Department, Officer Prieto was directing traffic at
Up River and Suntide Roads when he was struck and killed by a pickup
truck; and
WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Officer Prieto was
survived by a wife, two sons, and two daughters; the legacy of this
dedicated public servant was honored in the community he so ably
served with a park that was named in his memory; and
WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the
courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as
Officer Prieto, who willingly place themselves in harm's way each
day to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow citizens;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of
Senior Officer Juan Rincon Prieto of the Corpus Christi Police
Department.
