| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Officer Matthew B. Thebeau of the Corpus Christi |

| 7 | 8 | | 2008, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Officer Thebeau was en route to an assault in |

| 9 | 10 | | progress when he was killed in a traffic accident; a two-year |

| 10 | 11 | | veteran of the Corpus Christi Police Department at the time of his |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | death, this dedicated public servant was honored in the community |

| 12 | 13 | | he so ably served with a park that was dedicated and named in his |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | memory; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the |

| 15 | 16 | | courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as |

| 16 | 17 | | Officer Thebeau, who willingly place themselves in harm's way each |

| 17 | 18 | | day to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow citizens; |
