 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A student team from Prairie View A&M University won
 the 2015 Honda Campus All-Star Challenge National Championship
 Tournament, held from March 21 through 25 in Torrance, California;
 and
 WHEREAS, Over the past 26 years, more than 100,000 students
 from historically black colleges and universities have taken part
 in the annual Honda Campus All-Star Challenge academic quiz; the
 contest provides valuable support for book and tuition
 scholarships, facilities upgrades, and other important
 investments, and over $7.5 million in grants has been awarded to
 date; and
 WHEREAS, Prairie View A&M has competed in the challenge each
 year since its inception and made 19 previous appearances in the
 National Championship Tournament; after triumphing over 47 other
 teams, this year marks the second time Prairie View has captured the
 crown; the 2015 team has benefited from the able leadership of coach
 Herbert Thomas, and its members include Joseph Dowell, Brannon
 Billings, Eric Johnston, and Chayse Lavallais; and
 WHEREAS, Through their expertise and hard work, the Prairie
 View A&M team members are continuing their school's tradition of
 academic excellence, and they may take justifiable pride in their
 myriad achievements; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Prairie View A&M University
 team members on winning the 2015 Honda Campus All-Star Challenge
 National Championship Tournament and extend to them sincere best
 wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
