| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at |

| 6 | 7 | | the tragic loss of Misael Hernandez of El Paso, who died on June 13, |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This vibrant and energetic young man graduated from |

| 9 | 10 | | Horizon High School as the salutatorian of his class; possessing a |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | keen intellect as well as a gift for music, he played the saxophone |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | and served as a drum major for the school band, and he helped his |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Social Studies UIL team to win a district championship; he was |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | preparing to attend The University of Texas at El Paso in the fall; |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mr. Hernandez strove to live |

| 16 | 17 | | according to the ideals and beliefs he held dear, and he was an |

| 17 | 18 | | active member of his church; his achievements made him an exemplary |

| 18 | 19 | | role model to his fellow students, and during the commencement |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | speech that he delivered just days before his passing, he |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | encouraged his classmates to pursue their dreams and ambitions, |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | whatever they may be; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Misael Hernandez was beloved by his family, friends, |

| 23 | 24 | | and neighbors in the community, and though his life ended far too |

| 24 | 25 | | soon, memories of his warmth and optimism will live forever in the |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | hearts of those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Misael Hernandez |

| 28 | 29 | | and extend deepest condolences to his parents, Raquel and Francisco |

| 29 | 30 | | Hernandez; to his sisters, Ymaliz and Yaeli Hernandez; and to his |
