45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The Stingers team of Horizon Heights Elementary
67 School in Horizon City received first place in the regional
78 Destination Imagination competition on February 28, 2015, earning
89 the right to proceed to the state tournament; and
910 WHEREAS, Since 1999, Destination Imagination has encouraged
1011 students to reach creative, collaborative solutions through
1112 diverse approaches; teams discover how to focus, frame challenges,
1213 and take risks while developing patience, flexibility,
1314 persistence, ethics, and respect for others; moreover, they gain
1415 skills in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the
1516 arts, among other disciplines; and
1617 WHEREAS, Guided by team sponsors Linda Hitter and Lori
1718 Berumen, the Stingers took top honors in the "Fine Arts--Feary
1819 Tales" category for their performance of "The Princess of Walalo";
1920 the team's six outstanding members are students in grades 3-5; and
2021 WHEREAS, The Stingers worked diligently to prepare for this
2122 exciting competition, and their first-place finish is a source of
2223 great pride to their teachers and classmates; now, therefore, be it
2324 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2425 Legislature hereby congratulate the Stingers team of Horizon
2526 Heights Elementary School on winning first place in the regional
2627 Destination Imagination competition and extend to the members
2728 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
2829 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2930 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3031 House of Representatives.
