45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The death of Lane Patrick Frizzell of Abilene on
67 March 9, 2015, at the age of 63, brought a great loss to his family
78 and friends; and
89 WHEREAS, Born in San Angelo on September 5, 1951, Lane
910 Frizzell was the son of Jack and Pat Frizzell; he graduated from
1011 Abilene High School and attended the University of Colorado before
1112 embarking on a backpacking trip through the Andes Mountains in
1213 South America; he completed his degree in business at Texas Tech
1314 University in 1974 and joined the family firm, Enrich Oil
1415 Corporation; he was responsible for the company's field operations,
1516 where his working knowledge of Spanish was an asset; and
1617 WHEREAS, Mr. Frizzell married his high school sweetheart,
1718 the former Miriam Holly Lutz, on June 14, 1975; they became the
1819 proud parents of a son, Matthew, and a daughter, Jennifer; with his
1920 trove of stories, Mr. Frizzell helped broaden their horizons and
2021 those of other young people, and through the years, his children
2122 often heard their friends joke that their dad was the cool one in
2223 the family; and
2324 WHEREAS, A talented musician, Mr. Frizzell began playing in
2425 bands in junior high, and he was active on the local scene for many
2526 years as the leader of the popular group Slim Chance and the
2627 Survivors; he continued to enjoy travel, and later in life, he
2728 visited several Central and South American countries as a speaker
2829 on a Rotary International business exchange trip; in addition, he
2930 was a longtime member of the board of the YMCA; and
3031 WHEREAS, Lane Frizzell was a kind and caring gentleman, and
3132 although he will be deeply missed, those who were privileged to
3233 share in the richness of his life will forever treasure their
3334 memories of time spent in his company; now, therefore, be it
3435 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3536 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lane Frizzell and
3637 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
3738 Holly Frizzell; to his children, Matthew Frizzell and his wife,
3839 Clare, and Jennifer Frizzell and her fiance, Raul Garcia; to his
3940 grandson, Quentin Garcia; to his parents, Jack and Pat Frizzell; to
4041 his brother, Allan Frizzell, and his wife, Linda; to his sister,
4142 Joni Wood, and her husband, Bill; to his nieces and nephews,
4243 Hieromonk Alexander Frizzell, Jill Flores and her husband, Chano,
4344 and Britni, Nicholas, and Kelsey Wood; and to his other relatives
4445 and friends; and, be it further
4546 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4647 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House
4748 of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lane
4849 Frizzell.
