H.R. No. 1738 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, March 31, 2015, marks the 54th wedding anniversary of Bill and Susie Black of Ozona, and this joyous event provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on their memorable journey together as husband and wife; and WHEREAS, Bill Black and the former Tommy Sue Chandler were joined in matrimony in 1961; they are the parents of two children, Will M. Black and the late Sue Ellen Crawford, and through the years, they have seen their treasured family grow to include their daughter-in-law, Vickie, as well as their grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Lifelong residents of Crockett County and descendants of pioneer ranching families in the area, the couple grew up near Ozona; Mr. Black helped found Crockett National Bank and continues to hold a seat on its board of directors; following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, he also served several terms as a county commissioner; Mrs. Black co-chairs fund-raising efforts for the West Texas Rehabilitation Center and has aided the efforts of various clubs and community projects; in addition to their prominent roles in ranching and raising livestock, the pair have also been involved in several business ventures; and WHEREAS, The 54 years of marriage that Mr. and Mrs. Black have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love and commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Bill and Susie Black on their 54th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the couple as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
