| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, After proving his coaching mettle as defensive |

| 10 | 11 | | coordinator for the Palacios High School football team for five |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | years, Mr. McKinney served as head football coach and athletic |

| 12 | 13 | | director at Van Vleck High School for three years and was |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | subsequently hired by Uvalde High School; in 1992, he began a |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | nine-year tenure as defensive coordinator at Refugio High School, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | and he later assumed the same role at Gregory-Portland High School |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | for 12 years and at Rockport-Fulton High School for the 2014 season; |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Off the gridiron, Mr. McKinney has further |

| 19 | 20 | | distinguished himself over the years as head coach of the boys' |

| 20 | 21 | | track and field teams at Palacios, Uvalde, Refugio, and |

| 21 | 22 | | Gregory-Portland High Schools; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, With his exceptional ability to teach and motivate, |

| 23 | 24 | | David McKinney has made a positive difference in the lives of |

| 24 | 25 | | hundreds of young athletes, and in so doing, he has earned a place |

| 25 | 26 | | among the legendary coaches of the Coastal Bend area; now, |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
