| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Karen Nykorchuk McCaleb of Texas A&M |

| 6 | 7 | | University--Corpus Christi has won distinction for herself through |

| 7 | 8 | | her induction into the Texas A&M University System Chancellor's |

| 8 | 9 | | Academy of Teacher Educators in 2015; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The Chancellor's Academy recognizes educators from |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | the university system who have made significant contributions to |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | the field of teacher education in the Lone Star State; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Dr. McCaleb earned her bachelor's degree in |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | elementary education from Framingham State University and her |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | master's degree in moderate special education from Westfield State |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | University, and she holds an Ed.D. degree in special education with |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | an emphasis in severe and profound disabilities from the University |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | of Northern Colorado; she also earned her certification in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | assistive technology from the University of Colorado at Denver |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Health Sciences Center; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, This dedicated educator has considerable classroom |

| 21 | 22 | | experience teaching students with disabilities in a variety of |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | settings, from residential to fully inclusive schools; since 1999, |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | she has taught undergraduate and graduate education students in the |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | field of severe and profound disabilities; she was the training and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | curriculum coordinator for the National Center on Low-Incidence |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Disabilities before accepting a position at West Texas A&M |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | University, and she joined the faculty at Texas A&M |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | University--Corpus Christi in 2007; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, With skill, expertise, and enthusiasm, Dr. McCaleb |

| 30 | 31 | | trains the K-12 teachers who will in turn help the students of Texas |

| 31 | 32 | | meet the challenges and opportunities of the future, and she is |

| 32 | 33 | | truly deserving of this prestigious professional award; now, |
