45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Colten Smith of Kountze High School distinguished
67 himself with his powerlifting achievements during 2015, earning a
78 trip to the Texas High School Powerlifting Association State Meet;
89 and
910 WHEREAS, In order to qualify for state, an athlete must prove
1011 his abilities at the regional meet by finishing in first or second
1112 place in his division or by lifting a specified total weight; and
1213 WHEREAS, Mr. Smith competed in the Region 4 Division 3
1314 competition, held on March 7 in Cleveland, Texas; he took home
1415 runner-up honors in the 123-pound weight class, completing lifts of
1516 305 pounds in the squat, 190 pounds in the bench press, and 395
1617 pounds in the deadlift to secure his spot in the field at the THSPA
1718 State Meet with a total weight of 890 pounds; and
1819 WHEREAS, Demonstrating hard work and unwavering
1920 determination to achieve his goals, Colten Smith has claimed a
2021 place among the elite young weight lifters in the Lone Star State,
2122 and he may indeed take pride in his outstanding accomplishments;
2223 now, therefore, be it
2324 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2425 Legislature hereby congratulate Colten Smith on qualifying for the
2526 Texas High School Powerlifting Association State Meet and extend to
2627 him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
2728 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2829 prepared for Mr. Smith as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2930 House of Representatives.
