| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |

| 6 | 7 | | of Teresa de Jesus Flores Solis, who passed away on April 24, 2014, |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Teresa Solis was born on October 15, 1928, and |

| 9 | 10 | | raised in Laredo, where she attended Guadalupe Catholic School, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Christian Middle School, and Martin High School; an illness |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | prevented her from completing her studies, so she entered the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | workforce early; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, On November 7, 1951, she married Juan Manuel Solis; |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the couple were blessed with 11 children, Juanita, Diana, Sylvia |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Nora, Elia, Virginia, Manuel de Jesus, Javier, Juan Gerardo, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Adriana, Sandra, and Ruben; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, After raising her children, Mrs. Solis returned to |

| 18 | 19 | | school and received her GED from Laredo Community College at 53 |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | years of age; she had a desire to help others, particularly young |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | people, so she went to work at a children's learning center with the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | City of Laredo Community Development program in 1972; she retired |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | in 1992 in order to spend more time with her grandchildren and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, A loving wife and mother and a superb chef, |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Mrs. Solis always had room for more loved ones around the table at |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | "Guela's house," as her grandchildren called it, and was |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | continually ready with a hot mug of atole or cafecito and sweets |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | such as capirotada and pan dulce; in addition, she loved to dance |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | and enjoyed attending weddings, quinceañeras, reunions, and other |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | parties; she is remembered as a woman of steady faith and great |

| 31 | 32 | | strength, full of light and laughter and compassion for others; and |

| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Teresa de Jesus Flores Solis lived a caring and |

| 33 | 34 | | purposeful life; she treasured the time she spent in the company of |

| 34 | 35 | | family and friends, and she is deeply missed by all those who held |

| 35 | 36 | | her dear; now, therefore, be it |
