5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Captain Christopher D. Fox of Plano retired from the |

6 | 7 | | U.S. Navy on March 31, 2015, drawing to a close a distinguished |

7 | 8 | | career in our nation's service that has spanned more than three |

8 | 9 | | decades; and |
---|
9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Captain |
---|
10 | 11 | | Fox was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps |
---|
11 | 12 | | upon his graduation from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1984; |
---|
12 | 13 | | he received his basic training in Quantico, Virginia, and then, |
---|
13 | 14 | | because of a shortage of navy pilots, he transferred into the navy |
---|
14 | 15 | | as an ensign in April 1985; he was designated as a naval aviator in |
---|
15 | 16 | | 1986, and he completed fleet replacement training on the P-3 Orion |
---|
16 | 17 | | aircraft at naval patrol squadron VP-31 in 1987; and |
---|
17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, From 1987 to 1990, Captain Fox was assigned to duty |
---|
18 | 19 | | with the Golden Eagles of VP-9 at Moffett Field in California; |
---|
19 | 20 | | during that time, he deployed to the Philippines, Japan, Diego |
---|
20 | 21 | | Garcia, and Saudi Arabia and served as avionics and armament |
---|
21 | 22 | | division officer, pilot Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures |
---|
22 | 23 | | Standardization (NATOPS) officer, standardization instructor |
---|
23 | 24 | | pilot, patrol plane commander, and mission commander; from |
---|
24 | 25 | | September 1990 until his release from active duty in December 1991, |
---|
25 | 26 | | he served with VP-31 as fleet replacement squadron instructor pilot |
---|
26 | 27 | | and as airframes branch officer; and |
---|
27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Captain Fox subsequently joined the navy reserve and |
---|
28 | 29 | | served as pilot NATOPS officer and as aviation safety officer with |
---|
29 | 30 | | the Executioners of VP-93 in Detroit; while a member of that unit, |
---|
30 | 31 | | he deployed to Italy and patrolled the Adriatic Sea to enforce UN |
---|
31 | 32 | | sanctions against Yugoslavia; after the squadron was |
---|
32 | 33 | | disestablished in 1994, he joined the Crawfishers of VP-94 in New |
---|
33 | 34 | | Orleans, deploying to Puerto Rico, Panama, Ecuador, El Salvador, |
---|
34 | 35 | | Okinawa, and Japan and serving as the squadron's pilot NATOPS and |
---|
35 | 36 | | training officer, maintenance officer, executive officer, and |
---|
36 | 37 | | commanding officer; and |
---|
37 | 38 | | WHEREAS, Following his tenure with VP-94, Captain Fox served |
---|
38 | 39 | | as commander of Naval Air Base Support Unit 0170, as naval reserve |
---|
39 | 40 | | commander of U.S. Sixth Fleet Maritime Partnership Program |
---|
40 | 41 | | Detachment 413, and as naval reserve commander of U.S. Pacific |

41 | 42 | | Fleet MOC Detachment 501; his non-command tours included active |
---|
42 | 43 | | duty service as operational support officer to the commander of the |
---|
43 | 44 | | Pacific Fleet, chief staff officer to the naval reserve commander |
---|
44 | 45 | | of the U.S. Seventh Fleet, and chief staff officer to the naval |
---|
45 | 46 | | reserve commander of U.S. Sixth Fleet Maritime Partnership Program |

46 | 47 | | Detachment 513; and |

47 | 48 | | WHEREAS, Among the decorations conferred on this |

48 | 49 | | distinguished officer have been the Legion of Merit, the |

49 | 50 | | Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, and the |

50 | 51 | | Navy Achievement Medal; Captain Fox is a pilot for American |
---|
51 | 52 | | Airlines in civilian life, and in all his endeavors, he enjoys the |

52 | 53 | | love and support of his wife, Lisa; and |
---|
53 | 54 | | WHEREAS, Captain Christopher Fox's professionalism and |
---|
54 | 55 | | dedication to duty have earned him the respect and admiration of all |
---|
55 | 56 | | with whom he has served, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his |
---|
56 | 57 | | exemplary military record as he embarks upon the next exciting |
---|
57 | 58 | | chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
58 | 59 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
---|
59 | 60 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Captain Christopher D. Fox on his |
---|
60 | 61 | | retirement from the U.S. Navy and extend to him sincere best wishes |

61 | 62 | | for continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
