 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Captain Christopher D. Fox of Plano retired from the
 U.S. Navy on March 31, 2015, drawing to a close a distinguished
 career in our nation's service that has spanned more than three
 decades; and
 WHEREAS, Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Captain
 Fox was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps
 upon his graduation from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1984;
 he received his basic training in Quantico, Virginia, and then,
 because of a shortage of navy pilots, he transferred into the navy
 as an ensign in April 1985; he was designated as a naval aviator in
 1986, and he completed fleet replacement training on the P-3 Orion
 aircraft at naval patrol squadron VP-31 in 1987; and
 WHEREAS, From 1987 to 1990, Captain Fox was assigned to duty
 with the Golden Eagles of VP-9 at Moffett Field in California;
 during that time, he deployed to the Philippines, Japan, Diego
 Garcia, and Saudi Arabia and served as avionics and armament
 division officer, pilot Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures
 Standardization (NATOPS) officer, standardization instructor
 pilot, patrol plane commander, and mission commander; from
 September 1990 until his release from active duty in December 1991,
 he served with VP-31 as fleet replacement squadron instructor pilot
 and as airframes branch officer; and
 WHEREAS, Captain Fox subsequently joined the navy reserve and
 served as pilot NATOPS officer and as aviation safety officer with
 the Executioners of VP-93 in Detroit; while a member of that unit,
 he deployed to Italy and patrolled the Adriatic Sea to enforce UN
 sanctions against Yugoslavia; after the squadron was
 disestablished in 1994, he joined the Crawfishers of VP-94 in New
 Orleans, deploying to Puerto Rico, Panama, Ecuador, El Salvador,
 Okinawa, and Japan and serving as the squadron's pilot NATOPS and
 training officer, maintenance officer, executive officer, and
 commanding officer; and
 WHEREAS, Following his tenure with VP-94, Captain Fox served
 as commander of Naval Air Base Support Unit 0170, as naval reserve
 commander of U.S. Sixth Fleet Maritime Partnership Program
 Detachment 413, and as naval reserve commander of U.S. Pacific
 Fleet MOC Detachment 501; his non-command tours included active
 duty service as operational support officer to the commander of the
 Pacific Fleet, chief staff officer to the naval reserve commander
 of the U.S. Seventh Fleet, and chief staff officer to the naval
 reserve commander of U.S. Sixth Fleet Maritime Partnership Program
 Detachment 513; and
 WHEREAS, Among the decorations conferred on this
 distinguished officer have been the Legion of Merit, the
 Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, and the
 Navy Achievement Medal; Captain Fox is a pilot for American
 Airlines in civilian life, and in all his endeavors, he enjoys the
 love and support of his wife, Lisa; and
 WHEREAS, Captain Christopher Fox's professionalism and
 dedication to duty have earned him the respect and admiration of all
 with whom he has served, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his
 exemplary military record as he embarks upon the next exciting
 chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Captain Christopher D. Fox on his
 retirement from the U.S. Navy and extend to him sincere best wishes
 for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Captain Fox as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
