H.R. No. 185
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
of Betty Jo Davis of Alto, who passed away on January 8, 2015, at the
age of 76; and
WHEREAS, Born in Alto on June 1, 1938, to Lonnie and Sally
Compton Pyle, the former Betty Jo Pyle was raised in nearby Weches
with her sisters, Kay, Nollie, Maxine, and Maybell, and her
brothers, W. L. and Richard; she exchanged wedding vows with Larry
Davis in 1955, and the couple became the proud parents of three
children, Larry, Chris, and Teresa; and
WHEREAS, For many years Mrs. Davis traveled the country with
her husband as he pursued his work in the concrete industry; she was
devoted to her family and home, and she was a valued member of A.
Frank Smith United Methodist Church, where she served as president
of the Women's Guild; she also participated in the Thursday Study
Club; and
WHEREAS, Betty Jo Davis lived a caring and purposeful life,
and those who were blessed to share in her love and affection will
forever hold her close to their hearts; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Betty Jo Davis and
extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband
of 59 years, Larry G. Davis; to her children, Larry Joe Davis and
his wife, Kim, Chris Davis and his wife, Jay Anna, and Teresa Cox
and her husband, Steve; to her grandchildren, Seth Davis and his
wife, Kasandra, Garrett, Grant, Creager, and Adam Davis, and
Caroline, Cameron, and Annie Cox; to her great-granddaughter, Faith
Ann Davis; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Betty Jo
Davis.
