5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

6 | 7 | | passing of Boyd Larry Bloomfield of Baytown on June 5, 2014, at the |

7 | 8 | | age of 74; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The youngest son of John and Susie Bloomfield, |
---|
9 | 10 | | "Corky" Bloomfield was born in Odem on December 5, 1939; he spent |
---|
10 | 11 | | his formative years in the Corpus Christi area, graduating from Roy |
---|
11 | 12 | | Miller High School; he earned degrees from Del Mar College and Rice |
---|
12 | 13 | | University before completing graduate programs at the University of |
---|
13 | 14 | | Houston; and |
---|
14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, Mr. Bloomfield held |
---|
15 | 16 | | jobs in a number of different fields and owned his own business, |
---|
16 | 17 | | Main Metal Fabrication; he was also an educator, and he taught |
---|
17 | 18 | | during college and in Houston's special education pilot program; he |
---|
18 | 19 | | returned to the classroom later in life to work as a special |
---|
19 | 20 | | education teacher until his retirement; and |
---|
20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, This valued member of the Baytown community was |
---|
21 | 22 | | affiliated with the Rotary Club and Lee College; a football player |
---|
22 | 23 | | in his youth, he had a passion for sports of all kinds and loved his |
---|
23 | 24 | | Harley-Davidson motorcycle; and |
---|
24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Bloomfield enjoyed the |
---|
25 | 26 | | love and support of his wife, the former Mary Sue Hamon, whom he met |
---|
26 | 27 | | at Del Mar College and married in 1966; he took great pride in his |
---|
27 | 28 | | two children, Lauren and Everett, and in his grandson, Jack; and |
---|
28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Corky Bloomfield lived life to the fullest, and he |
---|
29 | 30 | | will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all those who |
---|
30 | 31 | | were fortunate enough to share in the warmth of his affection; now, |

31 | 32 | | therefore, be it |

32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Boyd Bloomfield and |
