45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
67 passing of Boyd Larry Bloomfield of Baytown on June 5, 2014, at the
78 age of 74; and
89 WHEREAS, The youngest son of John and Susie Bloomfield,
910 "Corky" Bloomfield was born in Odem on December 5, 1939; he spent
1011 his formative years in the Corpus Christi area, graduating from Roy
1112 Miller High School; he earned degrees from Del Mar College and Rice
1213 University before completing graduate programs at the University of
1314 Houston; and
1415 WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, Mr. Bloomfield held
1516 jobs in a number of different fields and owned his own business,
1617 Main Metal Fabrication; he was also an educator, and he taught
1718 during college and in Houston's special education pilot program; he
1819 returned to the classroom later in life to work as a special
1920 education teacher until his retirement; and
2021 WHEREAS, This valued member of the Baytown community was
2122 affiliated with the Rotary Club and Lee College; a football player
2223 in his youth, he had a passion for sports of all kinds and loved his
2324 Harley-Davidson motorcycle; and
2425 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Bloomfield enjoyed the
2526 love and support of his wife, the former Mary Sue Hamon, whom he met
2627 at Del Mar College and married in 1966; he took great pride in his
2728 two children, Lauren and Everett, and in his grandson, Jack; and
2829 WHEREAS, Corky Bloomfield lived life to the fullest, and he
2930 will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all those who
3031 were fortunate enough to share in the warmth of his affection; now,
3132 therefore, be it
3233 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3334 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Boyd Bloomfield and
3435 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
3536 Mary Sue Hamon Bloomfield; to his daughter, Lauren Bloomfield
3637 Burns, and her husband, Andrew; to his son, John Everett
3738 Bloomfield; to his grandson, John Kelly "Jack" Burns; to his
3839 brother-in-law, Dexter Boone Hamon, and his wife, Susie; to Tracy
3940 Ann Snyder; to his nieces and nephews; and to his other relatives
4041 and many friends; and, be it further
4142 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4243 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4344 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Boyd
4445 Bloomfield.
