H.R. No. 189 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the passing of Boyd Larry Bloomfield of Baytown on June 5, 2014, at the age of 74; and WHEREAS, The youngest son of John and Susie Bloomfield, "Corky" Bloomfield was born in Odem on December 5, 1939; he spent his formative years in the Corpus Christi area, graduating from Roy Miller High School; he earned degrees from Del Mar College and Rice University before completing graduate programs at the University of Houston; and WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, Mr. Bloomfield held jobs in a number of different fields and owned his own business, Main Metal Fabrication; he was also an educator, and he taught during college and in Houston's special education pilot program; he returned to the classroom later in life to work as a special education teacher until his retirement; and WHEREAS, This valued member of the Baytown community was affiliated with the Rotary Club and Lee College; a football player in his youth, he had a passion for sports of all kinds and loved his Harley-Davidson motorcycle; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Bloomfield enjoyed the love and support of his wife, the former Mary Sue Hamon, whom he met at Del Mar College and married in 1966; he took great pride in his two children, Lauren and Everett, and in his grandson, Jack; and WHEREAS, Corky Bloomfield lived life to the fullest, and he will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to share in the warmth of his affection; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Boyd Bloomfield and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Mary Sue Hamon Bloomfield; to his daughter, Lauren Bloomfield Burns, and her husband, Andrew; to his son, John Everett Bloomfield; to his grandson, John Kelly "Jack" Burns; to his brother-in-law, Dexter Boone Hamon, and his wife, Susie; to Tracy Ann Snyder; to his nieces and nephews; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Boyd Bloomfield.
