45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Civic-minded individuals from across the Lone Star
67 State are gathering in Austin on April 14, 2015, to demonstrate
78 support for women and their families during Blue Ribbon Lobby Day at
89 the Capitol; and
910 WHEREAS, In 2013, this event was established by lead
1011 organizers Diane Mosier, president of River Oaks Area Democratic
1112 Women, and Lize Burr, president of Capital Area Democratic Women;
1213 it unites Democratic and progressive women seeking to address a
1314 variety of issues that affect the well-being of Texans, including
1415 income equality, public education, and access to essential health
1516 care; and
1617 WHEREAS, The inaugural Blue Ribbon Lobby Day drew more than
1718 400 participants who met with state legislators to discuss a
1819 variety of matters, to advocate for progressive values, and to
1920 convey the message that women play an integral role in the
2021 prosperity of the state; since its inception, the Blue Ribbon
2122 coalition has continued to grow, and its members are working
2223 diligently to promote policies that increase the economic security
2324 of women and make a positive impact in the lives of their families;
2425 and
2526 WHEREAS, Our democracy is greatly enriched when all voices
2627 are heard in the political process, and Blue Ribbon Lobby Day
2728 provides an important opportunity for public-spirited Texas women
2829 to express their views and share their insights with lawmakers and
2930 other officials; now, therefore, be it
3031 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3132 Legislature hereby recognize April 14, 2015, as Blue Ribbon Lobby
3233 Day at the State Capitol and commend all those participating for
3334 their civic engagement.
