 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Civic-minded individuals from across the Lone Star
 State are gathering in Austin on April 14, 2015, to demonstrate
 support for women and their families during Blue Ribbon Lobby Day at
 the Capitol; and
 WHEREAS, In 2013, this event was established by lead
 organizers Diane Mosier, president of River Oaks Area Democratic
 Women, and Lize Burr, president of Capital Area Democratic Women;
 it unites Democratic and progressive women seeking to address a
 variety of issues that affect the well-being of Texans, including
 income equality, public education, and access to essential health
 care; and
 WHEREAS, The inaugural Blue Ribbon Lobby Day drew more than
 400 participants who met with state legislators to discuss a
 variety of matters, to advocate for progressive values, and to
 convey the message that women play an integral role in the
 prosperity of the state; since its inception, the Blue Ribbon
 coalition has continued to grow, and its members are working
 diligently to promote policies that increase the economic security
 of women and make a positive impact in the lives of their families;
 and
 WHEREAS, Our democracy is greatly enriched when all voices
 are heard in the political process, and Blue Ribbon Lobby Day
 provides an important opportunity for public-spirited Texas women
 to express their views and share their insights with lawmakers and
 other officials; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby recognize April 14, 2015, as Blue Ribbon Lobby
 Day at the State Capitol and commend all those participating for
 their civic engagement.
