| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Freddy James Anderson of San Antonio is being |

| 6 | 7 | | inducted into the Prairie View Interscholastic League Coaches |

| 7 | 8 | | Association Hall of Fame on July 18, 2015; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born and raised in Kountze, Mr. Anderson attended |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | George Washington Carver High School; after earning a spot on the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | school's basketball team, he quickly proved himself an athlete of |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | notable ability, and he helped lead the squad to a number of titles |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | during his time as a Carver student; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson went on to enjoy a notable 23-year |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | career in the U.S. armed forces, proudly serving his country during |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | the Vietnam War; following his retirement from the military in |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | 1985, he moved to San Antonio and joined the U.S. Postal Service, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | where he spent two decades as a civil servant; he retired in 2005 |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | and later worked as a security guard at the AT&T Center for the San |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Antonio Spurs; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A respected member of his community, Mr. Anderson is |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | currently collaborating with former students of George Washington |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Carver High to have the school commemorated with the placement of a |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | historical marker at its original location; moreover, Mr. Anderson |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | is also active in efforts to earn recognition for the founders of |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Bishop College in Dallas; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, The achievements of Freddy Anderson continue to |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | inspire his family, friends, and fellow Carver High School alumni, |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | and he is indeed deserving of this hall of fame honor; now, |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | therefore, be it |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 31 | 32 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Freddy James Anderson on his |
