H.R. No. 2043 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Freddy James Anderson of San Antonio is being inducted into the Prairie View Interscholastic League Coaches Association Hall of Fame on July 18, 2015; and WHEREAS, Born and raised in Kountze, Mr. Anderson attended George Washington Carver High School; after earning a spot on the school's basketball team, he quickly proved himself an athlete of notable ability, and he helped lead the squad to a number of titles during his time as a Carver student; and WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson went on to enjoy a notable 23-year career in the U.S. armed forces, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War; following his retirement from the military in 1985, he moved to San Antonio and joined the U.S. Postal Service, where he spent two decades as a civil servant; he retired in 2005 and later worked as a security guard at the AT&T Center for the San Antonio Spurs; and WHEREAS, A respected member of his community, Mr. Anderson is currently collaborating with former students of George Washington Carver High to have the school commemorated with the placement of a historical marker at its original location; moreover, Mr. Anderson is also active in efforts to earn recognition for the founders of Bishop College in Dallas; and WHEREAS, The achievements of Freddy Anderson continue to inspire his family, friends, and fellow Carver High School alumni, and he is indeed deserving of this hall of fame honor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Freddy James Anderson on his induction into the Prairie View Interscholastic League Coaches Association Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Anderson as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
