45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The citizens of Pittsburg lost an admired community
67 leader with the death of Estelle Parker on January 15, 2015, at the
78 age of 95; and
89 WHEREAS, Born on November 25, 1919, in Titus County, the
910 former Estelle Crain was the daughter of William Lee Crain and Nina
1011 Estelle Smith Crain; she married William Russell "W. R." Parker,
1112 and they became the parents of four daughters, Linda, Mary Ann,
1213 "Hedy," and "Tonnie"; through the years, Mrs. Parker saw her family
1314 grow to include 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2
1415 great-great-grandchildren; and
1516 WHEREAS, In 1945, Mrs. Parker and her husband opened a
1617 plumbing business that they expanded to include appliances, floor
1718 coverings, and furniture; for seven decades, as the owner of Parker
1819 Furniture and Appliance, "Mama Parker," or "Mrs. Estelle," as she
1920 was fondly known, worked to promote a vital downtown Pittsburg
2021 through her own store's initiatives and as a favorite customer at
2122 many local shops; she was also a valued congregant of the First
2223 Baptist Church; and
2324 WHEREAS, Estelle Parker was a devoted mother and grandmother
2425 and a significant asset to her business and her community; her
2526 commitment to her loved ones and to Pittsburg will be remembered and
2627 admired for years to come; now, therefore, be it
2728 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2829 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Estelle Parker and
2930 extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
3031 daughter, Linda Grundish, and her husband, David; to her
3132 grandchildren, Dr. Mike and Ann McCrady, Dr. Bob and Julie McCrady,
3233 Tom McCrady, Liz and Bobby Goodman, Tinkie Williams, Keith and Anna
3334 Sewell, and Paul and Laurie Sewell; to her 13 great-grandchildren
3435 and her 2 great-great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and
3536 many friends; and, be it further
3637 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3738 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
3839 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Estelle
3940 Parker.
