H.R. No. 2119 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Eagle Scout insignia is bestowed on those members of the Boy Scouts of America who advance through the program to its highest rank, and Jason Ian Thomas of Bellaire may now count himself a member of that select group; and WHEREAS, The son of Vic and Carol Thomas and a junior at the DeBakey High School for Health Professions, this fine young Texan has mastered a number of important skills in his quest to become an Eagle Scout; he has earned 22 merit badges requiring expertise in such diverse areas as first aid, personal fitness, environmental science, and carpentry; he has gained further experience in leadership and teamwork while undertaking his Eagle Scout project, which involved designing and planting a community garden at Christ the King Presbyterian Church in Houston; and WHEREAS, A valued member of Boy Scout Troop No. 13 in Houston, Mr. Thomas has served his peers as a troop librarian, chaplain, and guide, and in so doing, he has exemplified the many positive traits for which Boy Scouts are renowned; and WHEREAS, In fulfilling the rigorous requirements for attaining the Eagle Scout insignia, Jason Thomas has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the Boy Scouts organization and its ideals, and the knowledge and confidence he has acquired along the way will indeed serve him well in the years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Eagle Scout Jason Ian Thomas on achieving this prestigious rank and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Eagle Scout Thomas as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
