H.R. No. 2151
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Sami Gonzalez, a senior at Creekview High School in
Carrollton, turned in an exceptional performance on March 27, 2015,
when she recorded the nation's fastest time of the season in the
300-meter hurdles; and
WHEREAS, Competing against some of the top high school
hurdlers from around the country at the Clyde Littlefield Texas
Relays in Austin, Ms. Gonzalez crossed the finish line in 41.89
seconds to eclipse the previous top national time of 42.07 seconds;
and
WHEREAS, This exceptional student-athlete has realized many
impressive accomplishments in recent years; she has qualified for
the state track meet on multiple occasions, and she claimed the
state title in the 300-meter hurdles in 2014; she will continue her
athletic career at the collegiate level in the fall as a member of
the track and field squad at the University of Miami; and
WHEREAS, In establishing her season-best time, Sami Gonzalez
has distinguished herself as a competitor of rare ability, and her
achievement is a source of great pride to her school and her many
supporters in the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Sami Gonzalez on recording the
nation's fastest time of the season in the 300-meter hurdles and
extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Gonzalez as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
