45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Constable Patrick William Feely of the Nueces County
67 Constable's Office lost his life in the line of duty on March 25,
78 1917, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and
89 WHEREAS, At the age of 49, Constable Feely was responding to a
910 disturbance call about a group of men driving recklessly with one
1011 man on the hood of the car; a gunman was hiding in the bushes, and he
1112 shot Constable Feely as he walked by; the officer was able to return
1213 fire and hit the suspect, who was later arrested; sadly, his own
1314 wound proved to be fatal; and
1415 WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the
1516 courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as
1617 Constable Patrick Feely, who willingly place themselves in harm's
1718 way each day to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow
1819 citizens; now, therefore, be it
1920 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
2021 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of
2122 Constable Patrick William Feely of the Nueces County Constable's
2223 Office.
