5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Constable Patrick William Feely of the Nueces County |

7 | 8 | | 1917, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, At the age of 49, Constable Feely was responding to a |

9 | 10 | | disturbance call about a group of men driving recklessly with one |

10 | 11 | | man on the hood of the car; a gunman was hiding in the bushes, and he |

11 | 12 | | shot Constable Feely as he walked by; the officer was able to return |
---|
12 | 13 | | fire and hit the suspect, who was later arrested; sadly, his own |
---|
13 | 14 | | wound proved to be fatal; and |
---|
14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the |

15 | 16 | | courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as |

16 | 17 | | Constable Patrick Feely, who willingly place themselves in harm's |

17 | 18 | | way each day to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow |

19 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
