H.R. No. 2172 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Constable Patrick William Feely of the Nueces County Constable's Office lost his life in the line of duty on March 25, 1917, and his service and sacrifice will not soon be forgotten; and WHEREAS, At the age of 49, Constable Feely was responding to a disturbance call about a group of men driving recklessly with one man on the hood of the car; a gunman was hiding in the bushes, and he shot Constable Feely as he walked by; the officer was able to return fire and hit the suspect, who was later arrested; sadly, his own wound proved to be fatal; and WHEREAS, Our state and nation benefit immeasurably from the courage and commitment of law enforcement professionals such as Constable Patrick Feely, who willingly place themselves in harm's way each day to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and exemplary service of Constable Patrick William Feely of the Nueces County Constable's Office.
