H.R. No. 2209
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Grayland Arnold of Kountze High School received
well-deserved recognition when he was named Most Valuable Player of
the 2015 Super Gold Basketball team by the Beaumont Enterprise; and
WHEREAS, A junior guard, Mr. Arnold enjoyed a stellar
campaign, averaging 24 points, 6.7 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.9
steals per game, as well as recording three triple-doubles, en
route to leading the Lions to a 33-7 record and a trip to the
University Interscholastic League 3A state semifinals; moreover,
he earned District 23-3A MVP honors, and he served as a leader and
mentor to his younger teammates; and
WHEREAS, This multitalented young Texan is a standout on the
Kountze football squad as well, and his skills on the gridiron have
earned him a scholarship to continue his athletic career at Baylor
University; and
WHEREAS, The hard work and commitment to excellence of
Grayland Arnold have been rewarded with this prestigious accolade,
and he may take justifiable pride in his accomplishments as he looks
ahead to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Grayland Arnold on his selection as
the 2015 Super Gold Basketball MVP and extend to him sincere best
wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Arnold as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
