45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The Honorable Orlando A. Correa is completing his
67 tenure as mayor in 2015, after 16 years of outstanding service to
78 the citizens of Raymondville; and
89 WHEREAS, Born and raised in Raymondville, Mr. Correa
910 graduated from Raymondville High School in 1980 and went on to earn
1011 master's degrees in counseling and in administration from Texas A&M
1112 University-Kingsville; he has enjoyed a career in education for 24
1213 years, working as a teacher, counselor, principal, and
1314 superintendent; and
1415 WHEREAS, Mayor Correa first served Raymondville as city
1516 commissioner from May 1999 until January 2006, when he was elected
1617 to the office of mayor; he was also president of the City of
1718 Raymondville Economic Development Corporation for nearly a decade;
1819 and
1920 WHEREAS, Over the course of his nine years as mayor,
2021 Mr. Correa has supported a number of important efforts, including
2122 projects related to municipal infrastructure, disaster recovery,
2223 the Raymondville police facility, and the sports complex; he has
2324 served in leadership roles in a number of noteworthy organizations,
2425 such as the Raymondville Chamber of Commerce, the Willacy County
2526 Historical Center, the Willacy County Emergency Operational
2627 Center, and the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council; in
2728 addition, he is a longtime member of the Raymondville Fire
2829 Department and the local Lions Club; and
2930 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Correa has enjoyed the
3031 love and support of his wife, Cristina, with whom he has shared 25
3132 years; following the completion of his final term as mayor, he plans
3233 to return to his work in counseling; and
3334 WHEREAS, A committed champion of his community, Mayor Correa
3435 may reflect with pride on all that he has accomplished in its
3536 behalf, and his contributions will continue to benefit area Texans
3637 for years to come; now, therefore, be it
3738 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3839 Legislature hereby honor Mayor Orlando A. Correa for his service to
3940 the city of Raymondville and extend to him sincere best wishes for
4041 the future; and, be it further
4142 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4243 prepared for Mayor Correa as an expression of high regard by the
4344 Texas House of Representatives.
