5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Honorable Orlando A. Correa is completing his |

6 | 7 | | tenure as mayor in 2015, after 16 years of outstanding service to |

7 | 8 | | the citizens of Raymondville; and |
---|
8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born and raised in Raymondville, Mr. Correa |
---|
9 | 10 | | graduated from Raymondville High School in 1980 and went on to earn |
---|
10 | 11 | | master's degrees in counseling and in administration from Texas A&M |
---|
11 | 12 | | University-Kingsville; he has enjoyed a career in education for 24 |
---|
12 | 13 | | years, working as a teacher, counselor, principal, and |
---|
13 | 14 | | superintendent; and |
---|
14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Correa first served Raymondville as city |
---|
15 | 16 | | commissioner from May 1999 until January 2006, when he was elected |
---|
16 | 17 | | to the office of mayor; he was also president of the City of |
---|
17 | 18 | | Raymondville Economic Development Corporation for nearly a decade; |
---|
18 | 19 | | and |

19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his nine years as mayor, |
---|
20 | 21 | | Mr. Correa has supported a number of important efforts, including |
---|
21 | 22 | | projects related to municipal infrastructure, disaster recovery, |
---|
22 | 23 | | the Raymondville police facility, and the sports complex; he has |
---|
23 | 24 | | served in leadership roles in a number of noteworthy organizations, |
---|
24 | 25 | | such as the Raymondville Chamber of Commerce, the Willacy County |
---|
25 | 26 | | Historical Center, the Willacy County Emergency Operational |
---|
26 | 27 | | Center, and the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council; in |
---|
27 | 28 | | addition, he is a longtime member of the Raymondville Fire |
---|
28 | 29 | | Department and the local Lions Club; and |
---|
29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Correa has enjoyed the |
---|
30 | 31 | | love and support of his wife, Cristina, with whom he has shared 25 |
---|
31 | 32 | | years; following the completion of his final term as mayor, he plans |
---|
32 | 33 | | to return to his work in counseling; and |
---|
33 | 34 | | WHEREAS, A committed champion of his community, Mayor Correa |
---|
34 | 35 | | may reflect with pride on all that he has accomplished in its |
---|
35 | 36 | | behalf, and his contributions will continue to benefit area Texans |
---|
36 | 37 | | for years to come; now, therefore, be it |

37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

38 | 39 | | Legislature hereby honor Mayor Orlando A. Correa for his service to |

39 | 40 | | the city of Raymondville and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
