H.R. No. 2244 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Honorable Orlando A. Correa is completing his tenure as mayor in 2015, after 16 years of outstanding service to the citizens of Raymondville; and WHEREAS, Born and raised in Raymondville, Mr. Correa graduated from Raymondville High School in 1980 and went on to earn master's degrees in counseling and in administration from Texas A&M University-Kingsville; he has enjoyed a career in education for 24 years, working as a teacher, counselor, principal, and superintendent; and WHEREAS, Mayor Correa first served Raymondville as city commissioner from May 1999 until January 2006, when he was elected to the office of mayor; he was also president of the City of Raymondville Economic Development Corporation for nearly a decade; and WHEREAS, Over the course of his nine years as mayor, Mr. Correa has supported a number of important efforts, including projects related to municipal infrastructure, disaster recovery, the Raymondville police facility, and the sports complex; he has served in leadership roles in a number of noteworthy organizations, such as the Raymondville Chamber of Commerce, the Willacy County Historical Center, the Willacy County Emergency Operational Center, and the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council; in addition, he is a longtime member of the Raymondville Fire Department and the local Lions Club; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Correa has enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Cristina, with whom he has shared 25 years; following the completion of his final term as mayor, he plans to return to his work in counseling; and WHEREAS, A committed champion of his community, Mayor Correa may reflect with pride on all that he has accomplished in its behalf, and his contributions will continue to benefit area Texans for years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby honor Mayor Orlando A. Correa for his service to the city of Raymondville and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mayor Correa as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
