| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their |

| 6 | 7 | | memories of Richard Guinn Brown of Azle, who died on April 1, 2015, |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Fred and Zena Brown, Richard Brown was the |

| 9 | 10 | | devoted husband of Carol Brown and the proud father of three |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | daughters, Paula, Kathy, and Jennifer; later in life he was blessed |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | with four grandchildren, Danny Woodruff, Evan Hurst, Taylar Graf, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | and the late Michelle Woodruff, and three great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Brown had a long and varied career that included |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | tenures as a store manager for Goodyear, a real estate broker in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Denton and Cooke Counties, a parking enforcement officer in Denton, |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | and a school crossing guard in Fort Worth; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, This proud conservative was also engaged in |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | politics, and in 1994, he was elected as the first Republican |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | commissioner in Cooke County, serving Precinct 2; he was an active |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | volunteer in his community as well, working with Community Link |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Mission and Meals on Wheels; in his free time, he took great |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | pleasure in gospel and bluegrass music; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a champion for his |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | political beliefs, Richard Brown lived a rich and purposeful life, |

| 25 | 26 | | and he leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | those who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 28 | 29 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard Guinn Brown |
