45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Glenn Bickerdike of Marshall has deservedly been
67 honored with the 2015 Sam B. Hall Jr. Civic Service Award from East
78 Texas Baptist University, and this achievement provides a fitting
89 acknowledgment of his many diverse contributions to the betterment
910 of his community; and
1011 WHEREAS, President of the local BancorpSouth branch and
1112 former ETBU Board of Trustees member, Mr. Bickerdike has lived in
1213 Marshall for more than 13 years, during which period he has been an
1314 active member of myriad noteworthy groups, including the Citizens
1415 Advisory Commission and the Turney Foundation; the 2014 Marshall
1516 Citizen of the Year, he has served in leadership roles with such
1617 organizations as the United Way of Harrison County and the Board of
1718 Directors of Good Shepherd Medical Center, and he is the chair of
1819 the Yes Matters political action committee; and
1920 WHEREAS, Mr. Bickerdike graduated from John Tyler High
2021 School and The University of Texas at Tyler; he began his
2122 professional career in 1991, working in Lufkin for Nations Bank and
2223 then Merrill Lynch, before moving to Marshall in 2001; and
2324 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Bickerdike enjoys the love
2425 and support of his wife, Karen, and his three children, Chase, Cade,
2526 and Kendall; he is also a valued member of Immanuel Baptist Church
2627 of Marshall, where he serves as a deacon; and
2728 WHEREAS, East Texas is fortunate to have passionate and
2829 engaged residents like Glenn Bickerdike, whose history of civic
2930 involvement is an inspiration to all who know him; now, therefore,
3031 be it
3132 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
3233 Legislature hereby congratulate Glenn Bickerdike on his receipt of
3334 the 2015 Sam B. Hall Jr. Civic Service Award and extend to him
3435 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
3536 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3637 prepared for Mr. Bickerdike as an expression of high regard by the
3738 Texas House of Representatives.
