H.R. No. 2285 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Glenn Bickerdike of Marshall has deservedly been honored with the 2015 Sam B. Hall Jr. Civic Service Award from East Texas Baptist University, and this achievement provides a fitting acknowledgment of his many diverse contributions to the betterment of his community; and WHEREAS, President of the local BancorpSouth branch and former ETBU Board of Trustees member, Mr. Bickerdike has lived in Marshall for more than 13 years, during which period he has been an active member of myriad noteworthy groups, including the Citizens Advisory Commission and the Turney Foundation; the 2014 Marshall Citizen of the Year, he has served in leadership roles with such organizations as the United Way of Harrison County and the Board of Directors of Good Shepherd Medical Center, and he is the chair of the Yes Matters political action committee; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bickerdike graduated from John Tyler High School and The University of Texas at Tyler; he began his professional career in 1991, working in Lufkin for Nations Bank and then Merrill Lynch, before moving to Marshall in 2001; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Bickerdike enjoys the love and support of his wife, Karen, and his three children, Chase, Cade, and Kendall; he is also a valued member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Marshall, where he serves as a deacon; and WHEREAS, East Texas is fortunate to have passionate and engaged residents like Glenn Bickerdike, whose history of civic involvement is an inspiration to all who know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Glenn Bickerdike on his receipt of the 2015 Sam B. Hall Jr. Civic Service Award and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Bickerdike as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
