H.R. No. 2292 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends of Eugenie Avery of Winnetka, Illinois, who passed away on September 9, 2013, at the age of 103; and WHEREAS, Born in Shaker Heights, Ohio, Jean Avery graduated from Smith College; in 1934, she married William H. Avery, and the couple raised three children, Nancy, Cameron, and Richard; with the passing years, their family grew to include a son-in-law, Paul Pressler, and two daughters-in-law, Lynn Donaldson and Judy Avery, as well as 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, This civic-minded individual participated in a number of worthy organizations and groups, including the Winnetka Presbyterian Church, which she served as an elder and deacon; she was also a member of the Fortnightly of Chicago, the Antiquarian Society of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Town and Country Arts Club, and the Kenilworth Garden Club; and WHEREAS, Blessed with a devoted family and admiring friends, Jean Avery was a source of joy and inspiration to all who shared in the richness of her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Eugenie Avery and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her children, Nancy Pressler and her husband, Paul, Cameron Avery and his wife, Lynn Donaldson, and Richard Avery and his wife, Judy; to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jean Avery.
