| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Reverend Dr. Leonard L. Favorite Sr., senior |

| 7 | 8 | | his 60th birthday as well as four decades in the ministry in October |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A native of Vacherie, Louisiana, Dr. Favorite |

| 10 | 11 | | graduated from St. James High School and went on to earn a |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | bachelor's degree from Calvary Theological Seminary; he received |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | his master's degree and his doctorate from Cornerstone University, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and he pursued biblical studies at Louisiana Baptist College, New |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and Trinity Theological |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Seminary; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, After shepherding a number of congregations in |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Georgia and Louisiana, Dr. Favorite accepted the call to serve as |

| 18 | 19 | | pastor of Outreach Missionary Baptist in 2000; since that time, he |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | has played a vital role in strengthening the ministries of the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | church and in guiding its efforts in the surrounding communities of |

| 21 | 22 | | Sunnyside and South Park; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Along with providing valued spiritual guidance to |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | his community of faith, Dr. Favorite serves as an instructor for |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., and the Congress of |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Christian Education, as director of Spiritual Care in the National |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Baptist Convention Office of Disaster Management, and as a member |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | of the Spiritual Care Response Team for the American Red Cross; he |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | is a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | the African American Association of Pastoral Counselors, and he has |

| 30 | 31 | | shared his wisdom by authoring two books, The Wonderful Counselor |

| 31 | 32 | | and Solutions for the Soul; and |

| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Favorite enjoys the love and support of his |

| 33 | 34 | | wife, Cheryl, in all of his endeavors, and he is the proud father of |

| 34 | 35 | | four children, Leonard, J. Daniel, Elisabeth, and Quanitta; and |

| 35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, For 40 years, Dr. Leonard L. Favorite Sr. has |

| 36 | 37 | | provided inspiration, guidance, and solace to countless |

| 37 | 38 | | individuals through his ministry, and it is indeed a privilege to |

| 38 | 39 | | join in celebrating these important personal and career milestones; |

| 40 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 41 | 42 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend Dr. Leonard L. |
