 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Reverend Dr. Leonard L. Favorite Sr., senior
 pastor at Outreach Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, celebrated
 his 60th birthday as well as four decades in the ministry in October
 2014; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Vacherie, Louisiana, Dr. Favorite
 graduated from St. James High School and went on to earn a
 bachelor's degree from Calvary Theological Seminary; he received
 his master's degree and his doctorate from Cornerstone University,
 and he pursued biblical studies at Louisiana Baptist College, New
 Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and Trinity Theological
 Seminary; and
 WHEREAS, After shepherding a number of congregations in
 Georgia and Louisiana, Dr. Favorite accepted the call to serve as
 pastor of Outreach Missionary Baptist in 2000; since that time, he
 has played a vital role in strengthening the ministries of the
 church and in guiding its efforts in the surrounding communities of
 Sunnyside and South Park; and
 WHEREAS, Along with providing valued spiritual guidance to
 his community of faith, Dr. Favorite serves as an instructor for
 the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., and the Congress of
 Christian Education, as director of Spiritual Care in the National
 Baptist Convention Office of Disaster Management, and as a member
 of the Spiritual Care Response Team for the American Red Cross; he
 is a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and
 the African American Association of Pastoral Counselors, and he has
 shared his wisdom by authoring two books, The Wonderful Counselor
 and Solutions for the Soul; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Favorite enjoys the love and support of his
 wife, Cheryl, in all of his endeavors, and he is the proud father of
 four children, Leonard, J. Daniel, Elisabeth, and Quanitta; and
 WHEREAS, For 40 years, Dr. Leonard L. Favorite Sr. has
 provided inspiration, guidance, and solace to countless
 individuals through his ministry, and it is indeed a privilege to
 join in celebrating these important personal and career milestones;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend Dr. Leonard L.
 Favorite Sr. on his 60th birthday and his 40th anniversary in the
 ministry and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
 success and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for
 Dr. Favorite as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
 Representatives.
