| 6 | 7 | | of Mary Julia Escalante Torres of Houston, who passed away on June |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The former Mary Escalante was born on March 5, 1930, |

| 9 | 10 | | to Pete and Barbara Escalante; she exchanged wedding vows with |

| 10 | 11 | | George Torres in 1953, and the couple became the proud parents of |

| 11 | 12 | | eight children, Gregory, Barbara, Phillip, Bonnie, Patrick, |

| 12 | 13 | | MaryAlice, Fabian, and Jeanette; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Known affectionately as Nena, Mrs. Torres was a |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; she is |

| 15 | 16 | | remembered as a woman of steady faith and compassion for others, |

| 16 | 17 | | always ready with a kind word or smile, and full of light and |

| 17 | 18 | | laughter; and |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Mary Julia Escalante Torres lived a caring and |

| 19 | 20 | | purposeful life; she treasured the time she spent in the company of |

| 20 | 21 | | family and friends, and she is deeply missed by all those who held |

| 21 | 22 | | her dear; now, therefore, be it |
