 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
 of Mary Julia Escalante Torres of Houston, who passed away on June
 18, 2014, at the age of 84; and
 WHEREAS, The former Mary Escalante was born on March 5, 1930,
 to Pete and Barbara Escalante; she exchanged wedding vows with
 George Torres in 1953, and the couple became the proud parents of
 eight children, Gregory, Barbara, Phillip, Bonnie, Patrick,
 MaryAlice, Fabian, and Jeanette; and
 WHEREAS, Known affectionately as Nena, Mrs. Torres was a
 dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; she is
 remembered as a woman of steady faith and compassion for others,
 always ready with a kind word or smile, and full of light and
 laughter; and
 WHEREAS, Mary Julia Escalante Torres lived a caring and
 purposeful life; she treasured the time she spent in the company of
 family and friends, and she is deeply missed by all those who held
 her dear; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Mary Julia
 Escalante Torres and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her
 family: to her husband of 61 years, George Torres; to her children,
 Barbara Torres, Phillip Torres and his wife, Amy, Bonnie Tresch and
 her husband, David, Patrick Torres and his wife, Michelle,
 MaryAlice Torres-MacDonald and her husband, John, Fabian Torres and
 his wife, Leslie, and Jeanette Pappas and her husband, Mark; to her
 grandchildren, Greg Ceballos and his wife, Lisa, Zachary, Jordan,
 Evan, Victoria, Hannah, Joshua, Nathan, Robert, Adam, MaryJulia,
 Mary, Emma, Chloe, Phillip, Addison, Caleb, and Audrey; to her
 great-grandchildren, Gregory, Gavin, and Olivia; to her sister,
 Alice Perez; to her brother, Pete Escalante; and to her other
 relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary Julia
 Escalante Torres.
