45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The Honorable Wayne A. Brascom completed his
67 distinguished tenure as Llano County judge in December 2014; and
78 WHEREAS, First elected in 2006, Judge Brascom worked
89 tirelessly to improve the quality of life available to area
910 residents; he negotiated the transition from the Llano County
1011 Hospital Authority to the Scott and White Hospital System, and he
1112 also assisted in obtaining medical services for citizens through a
1213 new healthcare waiver; and
1314 WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan enhanced the efficiency of the
1415 probate court, and he worked with the county attorney's office to
1516 develop a bond forfeiture program; in accordance with House Bill
1617 1117, passed by the 78th Texas Legislature, he worked with the
1718 commissioners court to implement an official road map legally
1819 establishing the roads the county will continue to maintain as
1920 public thoroughfares; and
2021 WHEREAS, Committed to meeting the needs of local youth as
2122 well, Judge Brascom served for eight years on the Llano County
2223 Juvenile Probation Board, and he obtained a new classroom building
2324 from the Llano Independent School District for the Head Start
2425 Program in Kingsland; moreover, he procured computers for the
2526 sheriff's office by means of a grant from the governor's office, and
2627 he assisted in arranging funds for the Llano Special Opportunity
2728 Recycle Center; and
2829 WHEREAS, Judge Brascom has further benefited his fellow
2930 citizens in many other leadership roles; he has served the
3031 executive board of the Capital Area Council of Governments as
3132 chair, vice chair, and secretary, and he was a member of the
3233 Corporation of Texas Regionalism, a statewide board that reviews
3334 legislative priorities for Councils of Government; in addition, he
3435 served a term as vice chair during his eight years on the Hill
3536 Country Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Board, and he
3637 was appointed by the governor to participate in the review and
3738 revision of the Health and Safety Code regarding mental health
3839 issues; and
3940 WHEREAS, Through his significant accomplishments in office,
4041 Wayne Brascom helped to make Llano County an even better place in
4142 which to live, and he may take justifiable pride in his
4243 contributions; now, therefore, be it
4344 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
4445 Legislature hereby honor Judge Wayne Brascom for his exemplary
4546 service as Llano County judge and extend to him sincere best wishes
4647 for the future; and, be it further
4748 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4849 prepared for Judge Brascom as an expression of high regard by the
4950 Texas House of Representatives.
