| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Sandra S. Heatherley has greatly benefited the |

| 6 | 7 | | League of Women Voters of Corpus Christi through her dedicated |

|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since taking office in 2013, Ms. Heatherley has ably |

| 9 | 10 | | guided the organization through a period of membership growth; she |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | has effectively directed voter registration drives at high schools, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | colleges, and universities, and she has led initiatives related to |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Women's Equality Day, water planning, human trafficking, and other |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | issues; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Heatherley has expanded the outreach of the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | league through issues-based partnerships with the City of Corpus |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Christi and such organizations as the Hispanic Women's Network of |

| 17 | 18 | | Texas, Delta Sigma Theta, the Leadership Corpus Christi Alumni |

| 18 | 19 | | Association, and the Sierra Club; in addition, she has raised the |

| 19 | 20 | | profile of the league in the community, and she has represented the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | chapter at the league's state and national conventions; she |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | previously served the chapter as vice president of membership; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In her professional life, Ms. Heatherley is a |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | clinical laboratory consultant, and she has served as president of |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Quality Laboratory Consultants for nearly 20 years; her |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | distinguished career has included a decade-long tenure as |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | laboratory director of the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | Health District; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Tulsa, she also |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | holds a master's degree in public health from the University of |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | Oklahoma; she has given generously of her time and talents to a |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | number of organizations, among them the Medical Reserve Corps, the |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | Citizens Advisory Health Board, and Paws Up, and she is active in |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | the parish of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church; and |

| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Sandra Heatherley has earned the respect and |

| 35 | 36 | | admiration of innumerable people through her leadership and her |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | steadfast commitment to the worthy goals of the League of Women |

| 37 | 38 | | Voters, and she may indeed take pride in her accomplishments; now, |

| 39 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |

| 40 | 41 | | Legislature hereby honor Sandra S. Heatherley for her service as |

| 41 | 42 | | president of the League of Women Voters of Corpus Christi and extend |

| 42 | 43 | | to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
