| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Joanna D. Sánchez has ably served the people of |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the staff, Ms. Sánchez has provided |

| 9 | 10 | | vital assistance in handling a variety of challenging tasks related |

| 10 | 11 | | to educational policies; in addition to learning more about the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | legislative process and the education issues facing citizens of the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Lone Star State, she has gained valuable experience in the field of |

| 13 | 14 | | public service; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Originally from Pharr, Ms. Sánchez is a second-year |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | doctoral student at The University of Texas at Austin, where she is |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | studying educational policy and planning; she is a Gates Millennium |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Scholar alumna and a Barbara Jackson Scholar, and she is a cofounder |

| 18 | 19 | | of Odisea, a nonprofit organization in the Rio Grande Valley that |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | works with first-generation college students and their families; |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, This noteworthy Texan has performed her duties as an |

| 22 | 23 | | education fellow with skill and dedication, and she is indeed |

| 23 | 24 | | deserving of special recognition for her fine work; now, therefore, |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas |
